Hello Woods Residents,

As you may be aware, Governor J.B. Pritzker has issued a “stay at home” order in Illinois until April 7th.  Although the Woods office will not have physical staff, you will be able to reach a Woods staff member by calling the office number at 217-464-8635. We will have a leasing staff member available Monday-Friday 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Saturday & Sunday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. If you wanting to sign a lease for 20/21 you can email the Leasing Manager, Chrissy, at chrissy@thewoodsatmillikin.com.

We have currently suspended any non-emergency maintenances requests. If you do have a maintenance emergency after-hours, you can reach the on-call technician by calling the office number. After-hours Security will remain in place at the Woods during this time. Please contact Security for any lock-outs or emergency needs.

Please remember that Millikin University is following CDC guidelines regarding social distancing. Gatherings will not be permitted. Please do not have guests during this time. This will keep yourself and others safe within the shared space of your apartment.

*A note from Millikin University Campus Life:

Campus Life will be performing essential functions for the state issued “stay at home” order. Essential functions include student welfare and residential operations.

Crisis Response

Professional staff will be on call during the “stay at home” order. Students may contact Public Safety for immediate assistance at 217.464.8888.

Residential Operations

Campus Life has an active roster of students who have determined they are remaining on campus during the “stay at home” order. On call staff will be checking in on residents remotely daily during the “stay at home” order and having those students complete the following form:  https://forms.gle/fBMrRRJYTRX9cA8Q7

Dining

Dining will remain in operation, but under limited services. A hot lunch meal will be provided daily and the evening and following morning’s breakfast will be sent home with students during the lunch period. Students must come for lunch to pick up their meals. The Big Blue Pantry in Blackburn has pre-boxed food ready for students to take. Students can contact Public Safety 217.464.8888 for assistance.

Dear Woods Residents,

We wanted to reach out to our residents for further clarification regarding Woods housing for the remainder of the academic year.  We do recognize that many of our residents utilize their current housing as their primary address. We want to assure and remind all residents that the decision to switch to eLearning does not affect your lease agreement that is in-place. 

The Woods facilities will be remaining open and operational. Residents’ legal obligations pursuant to their leases shall continue including utilities.

Due to the COVID-19 health crises, The Woods will not be completing any move-out inspections until the end of the lease term for current residents.  Move-out information will be delivered mid-April via text, email, and our website with complete instructions, apartment preparation checklist, key envelope for key return and other move-out procedures for when your lease expires in May. In the event that you want to return your key now, you can visit our office to do so. We’ll have you sign a form explaining our inspection timeline.  

Again, The Woods will remain open and will continue to operate with regular hours, policies and procedures. We are available 365 days per year, this also includes our maintenance team. We will continue work towards the safety of all residents by increasing cleaning of common areas, hallways, stairways, fitness center, meeting rooms, common area bathrooms, theatre room more. Our goal - in this time and always, is to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. Remember to use the “Resident Portal” app to communicate regarding rent, maintenance requests or general questions.

An update regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) for Woods residents:

Thank you for being a valued Woods resident. As we navigate our way through the housing changes due to Millikin’s move to eLearning, we wanted to personally reach out to you regarding the current Coronavirus situation.

As I’m sure you’ve seen, there continues to be an influx of new information each day. So we appreciate the chance to update you on what we're doing right now at the Woods to protect you, your family, friends and our employees.

The Woods will remain open and will continue to operate with regular hours, policies and procedures. You have full access to your apartment and common areas at all times. As Millikin remains open with food and educational services available, we welcome our residential students to remain living at the Woods.

We want to assure you that your safety and the safety of all of residents is top priority. Here are some of the measures we've taken in recent days:                                     

  1. Cleaning Common Areas: We have increased the amount of time our cleaning crew cleans all common hallways, stairways, fitness centers, meeting rooms, common area bathrooms, laundry rooms and more. Our goal is to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
  2. Use the “Resident Portal” App for Communication: If you haven't tried it yet, now is a great time to check out our Resident Portal app. Simply pay any balance with a few clicks, ask a question and/or send maintenance requests regarding your building or apartment via the app as well. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/resident-portal-mobile/id443831139 
  3. Online Lease Signing: We are working toward an online lease process if you have not signed your lease for 20/21. In the meantime, you can email thewoods@millikin.edu with a request for an electronic lease to be sent.

In order to better serve you, we have scheduled move-in orientationsThe schedule below has your apartment’s date/time for your orientation meeting and key pick-up. During this meeting our Property Manager, Jamie, will review our policy book with you, and issue keys.

Remember, your lease does NOT begin until August 23rd 2019, however as a courtesy we are allowing apartments to move-in a few days early!

Can’t make that appointment? No Problem! You can call the office at 217-464-8635 to reschedule your appointment for August 23rd,2019.

Very Important: Your account must have a zero-dollar balance, if there is an outstanding balance due to the Security Deposit or missing Guaranty Forms (co-signer), it will delay your move-in experience.
