Fall semester move-in day is arriving soon, and we are excited for your return! To better serve you, The Woods has scheduled move-in dates prior to your lease start date. The schedule below lists your apartment’s scheduled date for check-in and key pick-up.
Check-in and key pickup will be located at The Woods Clubhouse between 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM on check-in dates. Please park inside The Woods complex upon arrival; the gates will be open. The check-in process will consist of signing for receipt of the Woods Policy Book, receiving keys and fob, registering vehicles, and receiving move-in inspection forms to be returned to our office within 24 hours. The first person to pick up keys for the apartment will receive the Common Area Apartment Inspection Checklist.
Important Move-In Requirements (Electric Turn On):
The Woods will collect the Ameren Account number from the first person checking into the apartment. If you are the person designated with the electric in your name, please ensure that Ameren is called at 1.800.775.5000 or visit www.ameren.com to “Start Service” on the scheduled date below. Please make sure the account number is shared with all your roommates. Over the past week, The Woods shared roommate contact information with all residents. Please call the office to confirm your email if you have not received this information.
Very Important: Your account must have a zero-dollar balance. If there is an outstanding balance due to the Security Deposit, August renter’s insurance or missing Guaranty Forms (co-signer), it will delay your move-in experience. Security deposits were due within 30 days of lease signing. Call The Woods office at 217-464-8635 to pay the security deposit to avoid delayed check-in.
Remember, your lease does NOT begin until August 21st; however, as a courtesy, we are allowing apartments to move in a few days early!

To prepare you for a successful school year, we have highlighted some of the key policies in the Woods Policy Book. Although this video contains key information, residents should also read the Policy Book in its entirety. The policy books can be found HERE and will be provided at move-in. Please note there are a few changes since the video was created:
- Check-In will be held in the Woods Clubhouse next to the pool in the middle of the property.
- Check or card payment for August renter’s insurance can be accepted on move-in day. Some residents choose to pay the yearly fee ($130) for renter’s insurance at check-in. Checks can be made payable to The Woods at Millikin.
The Woods has created a document of what is provided in the apartment, as well as a list of common items to bring. This list can be found HERE.
Are you a current resident (student or Millikin staff) who lived at the Woods over the summer? Please stop by the office during one of our scheduled move-in days to pick up your new 26-27 key fob and parking sticker. Current key fobs will be deactivated by the first day of classes. If you did not complete a new Guaranty of Lease (co-signer) form for the new lease term, this is required to be turned in before new key fob will be issued.
